Cancer Research Masquerade Ball

IMG_1854On Friday 13 November, as part of their A-level Business Studies course, 13A Business held a Masquerade Ball in aid of Cancer Research, held at the Riverside Lodge in Morpeth.

Prior to the event the group held several fundraisers, such as bake sales and a football match which raised £300 for the charity!

At the night of the event, there was a three course meal served by the Riverside, a raffle with some great prizes all generously donated by local businesses and finally a DJ finished the great night off.

The night was a great success with 115 people attending and over £1,000 was raised and will be donated to Cancer Research.

Thank you to everyone who attended the night and everyone who donated money and prizes to us. All the money will go to a great cause and it wouldn’t have been such a success without everyone contributing. Click ‘continue reading’ to see pictures from the night.

Sixth Form Spinathon

IMG_2789Friday the 13th brought Children in Need and the Sixth Form Spinathon, Year 12 against Year 13, all in support of Lucy Wox a previous Year 11 student who was completing the BBC One Rickshaw Challenge.

So 09:20 came and the Spinathon began. Each year group had different cyclists in each 10 minute slot of the school day. Year 13 took an early lead with some apparently keen cyclists, until a student withdrew with a bout of unexpected sickness. Then along came the Year 12 future Olympian with a burst of 42 mph which took Year 12 into the lead.  While all this was going on the donations were flying in and the total was pushing £2000.
