No Smoking PolicyReviewed by Gov Body: TLP Cttee 9 June 2008 Approved or to amend: Amended and approved Review date: 2009
Rationale
It is important for our school to have a No Smoking policy because smoking is one of the leading causes of both preventable ill health and premature death in the UK.
This policy is based upon best practice regarding Health and Safety at Work and the Northumberland County Council ‘No Smoking’ Policy. The policy also supports campaigns which aim to reduce the 21% of 15 year olds locally who smoke. The policy recognises the critical role played by the school in educating employees, students, and their families about the dangers of smoking.
