Description:
Jazz music and dance stemming from the 1920s, 30s and 40s has been all but forgotten by younger generations. This project aims to encapsulate the once rife passion for jazz music and dance, by introducing a new generation to improvisation and jazz standards, and Lindy Hop and Charleston dance techniques.
The project will include workshops by renowned musicians and dance artists based across the region. Students and the local community will work towards a performance on the 13 March where a formal dress code evening of entertainment will take place. The audience will be expected to take part in music and dance from the era, wearing spats and cocktail dresses. Book a place in your diary!
The Clore Duffield Foundation have announced 17 Clore Performing Arts Awards for inspirational creative projects for children and young people across the UK. The King Edward VI School has been granted £2000 for their ‘Hot Antics’ Project.
