Enterprise Week 2006

Enterprising Assemblies
Two groups of our Year 10 students produced and performed their own enterprise assembly to Years 9 to 13 throughout Enterprise Week.

The first group performed a comedy sketch on marketing a product whilst the second group demonstrated clearly that enterprise = risk.

Make Your Mark Challenge

Three of our Year 10 Business G&T students took part in the Make Your Mark Challenge to invent a ‘fun’ product that could make money. Their idea focuses on a computer simulation game that can be played all across the world. Their idea was so successful they have made the regional final of the competition.

Business Road show

Representatives from 23 local businesses set up stalls in the LSH & spent a whole morning explaining to Year 10 students about how to start a business by turning an idea into reality. Businesses included a Frisbee coach; Bonsai tree grower, alternative medicine & fair trade. Our students all had an excellent time.

Deal or No Deal

Mrs Libreri, as she’s never been seen before, played Noel Edmonds & helped Josh Furlong pit his wits against our banker Mr Clough in an attempt to win a cash prize.

With Mr Owens in charge of ICT Josh got £10 at the end of the show, a profit of £9!

Dragons Den

Teams of students pitched business ideas to a panel of dragons to receive funding of £20 to run a shoe shining business for the week.

Each team made a huge profit & Mr Wilkinson now has the shiniest shoes in school.
The profit is funding a business lunch for all!

Key Skills & Enterprise Conference

The whole of Year 12 went to Kirkley Hall this year to be put through their paces by the RAF and the Education Business Partnership, EBP.

The EBP activities were to make a shoe out of basic materials and produce a fashion show & to plan a wedding (lots of financial capability)!

The RAF had lots of mini challenges to focus our students on good teamwork & leadership. Challenges included getting all across a tilting bridge, building a catapult, getting through an ‘electric fence’, getting out of a tangle of ropes and a discussion of who to save in a potholing accident.

Our students were thoroughly challenged!

A huge thanks to everyone who contributed to Enterprise Week this year!
