Diana Awards at KEVI
On Thursday 15th July, KEVI was proud to host the North East Diana Award Celebration for young people. KEVI is now a 'Diana Gold Award School' for the number of students who have received this prestigious national award.

This year's winners include Maria Jinks who has recently left year 11, as well as for the first time in KEVI's history, our student-led sign-language group 'Happy Hands' has received a 'Diana Certificate of Excellence'. Congratulations to the group members:

The event included some fantastic musical performances from ex-student Isolde Roxby and current year 11 student Rebecca Megwa.
A number of local organisations who work closely with KEVI students were also invited to exhibit and to talk about their work with students, many thanks to Hilarie Tucknott from Business and Professional Women (BPW), Jayne Crow from St.Oswald's Hospice, Karen Diamond from Vinspired, Lillian Nelson from the British Red Cross, and St.John's Ambulance.
Many thanks also to Mayor Ken Brown for an excellent speech as well as well as the presentation of awards. A number of additional guests from the local community also attended the event including Debbie Anderson, Manager of the Sanderson Arcade and the Morpeth Lions.
KEVI was also delighted to receive commendation from Earl Spencer, brother of the late Princess Diana who stated "Congratulations to The King Edward VI School for being name a Diana Gold Award School. I send my very best wishes, and hope you have a most enjoyable evening."
