Course Overview
Year 9
All students study Food Technology. You will ‘learn by doing’. These are some of the products you will make :
- Fruit pudding
- Country chicken
- Macaroni cheese
- Cheese and onion flan
- Swiss roll
- Design your own burgers design your own muffins.
Year 10 and 11
Food Technology is a popular option at GCSE with both boys and girls. You will be designing and making a wide range of products, developing your practical skills. Sensory testing is a popular feature of the course which involves tasting food products and commenting on their strengths and weaknesses.
These are some of the products you will make:
- Cheese n’ onion pasties
- Savoury parcels
- Trifle
- Toad in the hole
- Gingerbread
- Bread
- Stir fry
- Vegetable crumble
- Scones
- Potato topped pie
- Lasagne
- Fruit fool
- Chicken Pilau
- Chilli con carne
- Cheesecake
You will also design and make many of your own ideas too!
Year 12 and 13
The A level course also involves lots of practical work designing and making new and more skill ful products, but also includes an in depth study of nutrition.
