Clearly, our parents believe that post 16 is well managed and led, that the grade up-dates are useful in informing them of their son/daughter’s progress and that they believe that their child knows how to improve in their subjects. This is excellent news, as the focus this year has been on assessment for learning, where we have wanted to give parents more regular feedback, but also to give students feedback so that they know how to improve.

Although this questionnaire was seeking to obtain the views of parents, it is obvious that parents do not wholly think that the post 16 team obtain their views. This could be addressed by seeking views during year 11 at the post 16 information evening, alongside our first parents’ information evening at the beginning of the Autumn term. However, 18% of parents responded as “don’t know” to this question.

Parents do not feel that their child is receiving appropriate advice about HE/FE/Employment. Students in year 12 have recently been given advice about higher education and further education, but we need to improve our advice on employment.

Although 14% of parents did not know if their child was making good progress because of good teaching, there was a comparatively lower rating for this question. However, the mean response was still “agree” rather than “disagree” or “strongly disagree”.
