Gold & Silver Orienteering 4-12-2006Duke of Edinburgh Award11 th – 13 th November 05In practice for our main expedition in the summer all the Gold students spent two (cold) nights at Whiteburnshank. On Friday night we set out from Alwinton in the dark for some night navigation and on Saturday and Sunday we did some serious walking with some route planning thrown in. Here are some of the photos…and you can see the weather was actually pretty decent! We all set out on Saturday morning to brace the gale  No! They’re ahead of us! Let’s run… or maybe not.  At last! Whiteburnshank! Now how do we get there?  Now the best bit of the whole weekend – Route cards!  Now this is what we like to see – men doing the housework!  Sunday lunch – very civilised |
